James L. Pittman Jr., Senior Pastor

James Lee Pittman, Jr., was born and raised in New Orleans, La. While studying premed at Howard University in Washington, D.C., he realized there was a greater disease than that of the body — the disease of the soul. Toward the end of his sophomore year, he began to grow in his faith and learn the value of discipleship through the Navigators Ministry. He went on to earn a B.S. in Biology and subsequently a Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill.  Since that time, James has devoted his whole being to Jesus Christ, serving not only the Lord but His people.

Following graduation and while at Trinity, Pastor James worked for ten years as a mental health counselor in psychiatric crisis units at two local hospitals. Since coming to New Hope in 2007, he served as both elder and Associate Pastor before accepting the role of Senior Pastor in August 2013.

Pastor James has been married for 19 years, and he and his wife Lena have three boys ages 18, 16, and 13.
