Bill Schlipp

Elder

Bill Schlipp and his wife Judy began attending New Hope in 2014, and Bill became one of the church’s elders in the following year. The couple was drawn to the church because of its commitment to discipleship and its pastor’s passion for the One Brick Discipleship Ministry. Bill teaches the New Hope Adult Sunday School and often leads the devotional teaching for the Wednesday evening Prayer Meeting.

Bill holds a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute and has been given a passion to fulfill the Great Commission. He believes that discipleship is not something we do but a lifestyle to be lived out. We are commanded by Jesus Christ to make disciples by passing on what other Christians have entrusted to us (2 Timothy 2:2).

Being freed from the bondage of addiction to alcohol at the time of his conversion in 1997, Bill is passionate about bringing Christ to those who suffer from the hopelessness of life without Him. He loves to teach from God’s Word and has the privilege of exercising his teaching gift as leader of New Hope’s Adult Sunday School and frequent devotional teacher in the Wednesday evening prayer meeting.

Bill works as a biblical counselor and Bible teacher at Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. The couple has two grown children and four grandchildren.
